Renew Passport

Renew by Mail

You can renew your passport by mail if …

  • The expiration date of your passport has not exceeded five years, AND
  • That passport is in your possession and is not damaged, AND
  • You were at least 16 years old when that passport was issued, AND
  • You still have the same name as in your existing passport (or you can legally document your name change).

Full requirements and instructions are available at the US Passport Services Website.

Whether existing passport holders renew by mail or in person, they must submit their old passport with their renewal application. If an individual’s passport is more than 15 years old, or if the passport is not available for submission to the State, then the applicant is treated as a first-time applicant and cannot renew by mail. A recent 2×2 inch color photo must accompany your renewal application; note that our office provides photos onsite for a fee of $15 (For your photo, do not wear white, any kind of uniform – or clothing resembling a uniform – or camouflage clothing. Eyeglasses and hats/headgear must be removed).
